Childminding (dagpleje)

• For children aged 0–3 years.

• The childminder cares for the children in their own home, adapting activities to the children’s needs, well-being, and development.

Flexible daycare
In Fredericia we have a number of daycare institutions.

• Many daycare institutions in Fredericia offer flexible childcare for children aged 0–6 years. 

• Some institutions only accept children from 3–6 years (until they begin primary school).

• The daycare staff include qualified social educators and assistant social educators.

• Within the daycare, your child’s development, well-being, play, and learning are supported and nurtured.

• Outdoor areas are available and may include swings, sandpits, and more. Excursions are regularly organized (for example, trips to the beach or the forest).

• The daycare programme offers a broad range of experiences and activities, and in the end preparing children for school.

When you are offered a place, you are invited to visit the childminder or the daycare institution before making your decision.

 
Parental payment

• By state law, parents pay a maximum of 25% of the total cost of childcare in an institution.

• The exact fee depends on:

  1. the child’s age,

  2. the type of institution, and

  3. how many hours per week you need care.

• If meals are offered at the institution, this also affects the cost.

Fredericia Municipality has a ’care-guaranty’ which ensures that you will be offered a place within three months after applying.

There is a different guarantee if you apply just after maternity/paternity leave or if you are new to Fredericia. In these cases, you are guaranteed a place when your child turns 30 weeks - provided you applied three months in advance.

You will be offered a place no later than one week before you need it. If you decline the offered place, the guarantee resets, and you will only be guaranteed another place three months later.

You cannot apply for daycare before your child is born.

Which care offer am I guaranteed
You will have the opportunity to prioritise between different institutions and childminders. However, we cannot guarantee that your exact wish can be met, as it depends on whether there are available places at the institution or childminder you prefer.

In most cases, we are able to accommodate the majority of preferences, but the care guarantee only ensures a place somewhere within the municipality, not a place at a specific institution.
 
When you apply you have to choose between:
- Childminder or Nurseries/Kindergardens
- Different opening hours
- Different modules; Part-time module of 30 hours per week for children of parents on parental leave or Full time
- The pedagogical profile of the institution
